Things may look bleak between "Flip or Flop" hosts Tarek and Christina El Moussa, and the former can only look back and reflect on why their relationship came crashing down.

During an interview on The Doctors, as reported by Us Weekly, Tarek shared that lack of communication was one of the main reasons why the couple's relationship turned sour by the middle of 2016. "I feel like if we had better communication, we would have had a better relationship," said the 35-year-old real estate expert.

"I think as time went on, you get busier and busier — and, you know, it was overnight. Businesses, TV, all these things happened at once, and ... It just kind of started pushing us apart from each other," he added.

Last month, E! News reported that Tarek has started going out and seeing people, with a "mysterious blonde" spotted with him, as they were waiting for the valet in a restaurant. Moreover, the TV host also admitted that he dated their children's nanny, Alyssa Logan, for about a month.

Christina, on the other hand, also went out and dated their family contractor Gary Anderson last year, although the two already broke up just recently, according to a report from Us Weekly. Furthermore, Christina's representative, Cassandra Zebisch, also confirmed that the two have split. The representative further stated that Christina currently single and that "being in a relationship is the last thing on her mind."

It was also reported that the couple was having trouble adjusting to their new lives, now that their TV careers are practically over. HollywoodLife.com said that a source who is close to the couple claimed that the ex-lovers were struggling, noting that "Christina loves being on TV and wants to parlay 'Flip or Flop' into a bigger career in front of the camera," and that "Tarek is also about the perks that come with being a 'TV star'. He loves the attention he gets from women."
