After releasing the final installment to the "Shattered Alliances" series of videos that featured one of Superman's rivals — the villain "Brainiac" — NetherRealm followed through with another one, this time showing more of the gameplay starring the green-skinned alien humanoid.
The trailer kicks off with Brainiac exchanging words with arch-rival Superman before unleashing a flurry of strikes using his metallic tentacles. He also summons drone-like projectiles, as well as energy beams from the sky, directly to his opponents. His tentacles can also release electrical charges and can also be used to carry enemies up and slam them into the ground.
Meanwhile, the highlight of the trailer is Brainiac's super move, where he calls upon a group of humanoids that surround and securely hold the opponents before a massive alien-looking spaceship arrives and blasts a giant beam directly on top of the enemy for the finish.
Last week, NetherRealm gave fans a glimpse of Brainiac through the fifth part of the Shattered Alliances video where the powerful villain together with his army of humanoids appear from out of the sky before landing to earth causing all sorts of destruction. In the trailer, Brainiac said he was seeking "the one they call Superman" and admitted that the latter's survival was an "oversight" that he must correct.
Brainiac's official bio describes him as "a megalomaniacal genius who roams the universe, collecting knowledge to increase his intellectual and scientific prowess."
"Obsessed with establishing his superiority, Brainiac captured Krypton's greatest cities, then eradicated what remained...or so he thought. Tales of the "Last Son of Krypton" have reached far into the stars. Now, the Collector of Worlds comes to Earth to finish his accumulation of Krypton — and discovers a new world worthy of his collection," the description added.
Meanwhile, NetherRealm announced that the next character reveal is slated for Friday, April 28. "Injustice 2," on the other hand, will launch on May 16 for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
