Days after announcing that a character reveal for "Injustice 2" is underway, NetherRealm lived up to its words and did so in the form of a big, bruising villain.
In a report by Gamespot, the video game developer revealed on Monday that Swamp Thing is the next character to be included in the solid roster of the sequel to the successful "Injustice" game. They also released a video clip of the debut gameplay, where the Swamp Thing can be seen emerging from a murky pool of water, then exchanging threats with Batman's sidekick, Robin, before engaging the latter and beating him to a pulp.
Furthermore, the video also shows the new character unleashing some of his moves against various opponents. Some of the more notable attacks of Swamp Thing include sinking underground to avoid enemy attacks, growing branches to knock down opponents, and a finishing move that has him pulling his rivals into the ground for the kill.
The reveal was first tweeted by NetherRealm, giving fans a definite date (Feb. 13), and they apologized for the confusion caused by its earlier pronouncement of revealing a character last Feb. 7, which didn't take place.
Gamespot also reported that Swamp Thing's appearance will be his first in the Injustice franchise as he didn't see action in "God's Among Us." Prior to the latest reveal, Black Canary was the last character to make it to the game's growing roster of heroes that already include Batman, The Flash, Superman, Supergirl, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and Robin.
Also confirmed to make an appearance in the sequel are Atrocitus, Gorilla Grodd, and Deadshot, living up to NetherRealm's Ed Boon's announcement that fans can expect obscure characters to be featured in the game.
The game is slated for release on May 16 for the Xbox One and Playstation 4 platforms, although beta codes were already released toward the end of January.
