Over a year has passed since the last episode of "One Punch Man" season 1 aired, and the anticipation for a follow-up continues to grow, especially with rumors and spoilers circulating online.
A report from News Everyday speculated that the bald superhero, Saitama, will likely weaken and eventually lose his powers. Apart from this, he will have to face the wrath of those who want to exact revenge upon him, particularly Lord Boros. Having stripped of his abilities and losing his "sense of self," Saitama will reportedly go through a downward spiral, reaching to a point where even he kneels before Lord Boros.
Meanwhile, a report from Celebeat mentioned another set of speculations wherein Saitama will face two opponents in the persons of Amai Mask and Metal Night. Amai Mask is described as a "rank one A-Class hero" who also happens to be a singer, actor, and model. Furthermore, he is also reported to be highly proficient in hand-to-hand combat, and he also has remarkable strength, speed, and reflexes. Additionally, he also has the ability of regeneration as he is able to reattach his severed hand and reconstruct his smashed face.
On the other hand, Metal Knight, who is also known as "Dr. Bofoi," is a rank 6 S-Class hero known for his ability to create advanced machinery and weapons. He is also expected to offer his services to the Hero Association in the upcoming season as he will help the organization in several logistical aspects, such as the construction of facilities.
Facts Herald also speculated that Amai Mask will be Saitama's first opponent in season 2. This will be followed by Metal Knight, who is one of the protagonists' newest opponents.
It can be recalled that a cloud of uncertainty surrounded the prospects for a second season until September 2016, when Madhouse, the studio behind the series, confirmed that "One Punch Man" will be back for another run. Although nothing is set in stone regarding the second season's debut, it is strongly speculated that the hit anime series will make a comeback in mid-2017.
