Though there is no word regarding a definite return date for a fourth season, the network just released a new trailer that will keep its fans company while they wait.

The trailer shows actress Catriona Balfe (Claire Randall) telling Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan), "there will be lots of different people here" who are hoping to live the American dream. A series of notes appear, saying "A New Land" and "A New Journey" before a message saying "Outlander Returns 2018" is flashed.

Den of Geek confirmed that filming for season 4 has already started where 13 episodes will be slated. Furthermore, a fifth season is likely already in the pipeline as Starz has reportedly ordered two new seasons for the historical time travel drama series. The fourth season, however, will be based on the fourth book of the series titled "Drums of Autumn," the report noted.

As for the show's renewal, Starz's boss Chris Albrecht had nothing but praises for the series. "Outlander is like nothing seen before on television. From its depiction of a truly powerful female lead character, to the devastating decimation of the Highlander way of life, to what is a rarely seen genuine and timeless love story, it is a show that not only transports the viewer, but inspires the passion and admiration of its fans," shared Albrecht.

Meanwhile, "Outlander" developer Ronald Moore said that Tobias Menzies (Frank Randall) that they are considering to have the actor back in Season 4, despite his Randall character perishing in a car crash in Season 3. "We've been talking about doing some way of getting Tobias back in the show in Season 4, at least for some flashbacks, or some other kinds of sequences. So nothing's been committed yet, but yeah that's on the table," Moore explained in an interview with Deadline.

Apart from Balfe and Fraser, Ed Speelers and Maria Doyle Kennedy are also expected to join the series in the upcoming season. Speelers will play an Irish pirate and smuggler named Stephen Bonnet while Kennedy will take on the role of Jocasta, Jamie's "strong-willed aunt," another Deadline noted.

"Outlander" season 4 is expected to return sometime in September.
