There were a lot of "Rick and Morty" fans who were hoping that Adult Swim will be releasing the third season of the popular series before 2016 ended, but it did not happen.
During the first few days of 2017, a rumor popped up that "Rick and Morty" season 3 will be launched on Jan. 9. The rumor started simply from the show's IMDb page that has posted Jan. 9 as the premiere.
It wasn't long before "Rick and Morty" co-creator, executive producer, and voice actor Justin Roiland took to Twitter to debunk all rumors, claiming that he is very sure that "Rick and Morty" season 3 will not air on Jan. 9. True enough, the day came and went without a new episode of "Rick and Morty."
With no confirmed updates regarding the premiere of "Rick and Morty" season 3, there were a lot of fans who took to simply breaking down the season 3 sneak peek shown during the Development Meeting with Adult Swim. Emergency Awesome even posted an almost 8-minute video breaking down the "Rick and Morty" season 3 teaser that was released late last year. The breakdown claims that the sneak peek that Adult Swim released is partly a parody of "Star Wars," with a whole lot of allusion to sex.
Although there were some big expectations that "Rick and Morty" season 3 will be released around December 2016, before the year ended, it was revealed that the team was only able to finish an episode, so there was no way that the third season could be finished.
There is still no release date slated for "Rick and Morty" season 3, although there are a lot of speculations claiming that the series could possibly premiere in March. Although the March launch is still not confirmed, there are fans hoping that at least Adult Swim would announce a specific date for the new season.
