Samsung Galaxy S8 news: Report from Korea says pre-orders will begin on April 10

With its unveiling officially confirmed for late March, Samsung's upcoming flagship smartphone is reportedly scheduled for global release in the following month.

According to a report from The Investor through MobiGyaan of Korea, the Samsung Galaxy S8, and most likely the Galaxy S8+, will be open for pre-orders beginning April 10, according to industry sources. The general release, on the other hand, is rumored to be on April 21 for both the S8 and S8+ models. It is unknown, though, how much the ration of both models will be, come launching date, considering that tech observers feel that the S8 will be the more popular pick between the two.

This latest update comes in the wake of a series of leaked images and details of the upcoming smartphone that spread online over the past two months. Last week, BGR reported a series of images showing the alleged Galaxy S8 model. The images, showing the regular S8 model, sported the 5.8-inch screen that was earlier confirmed, while shots of the left and right-hand sides, as well as the bottom of the smartphone, teased other key details.

The button located below the volume toggle key was speculated to be the new "Bixby" AI feature, while the front shot of the device strengthened speculations that the display will no longer showcase a physical "Home" button. Trusted phone tipster Evan Blass also leaked an alleged press image showing the smartphone and its highly-anticipated bezel-less screen.

Other key features that were confirmed include the AMOLED display, 4G LTE capability, a 12MP dual pixel main camera, and a 64GB memory with external microSD support. In addition, it will also come with an iris scanner, a USB-C port, a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The Korean tech giant also confirmed that the March 29 launch will involve two "Unpacked" events happening in two separate venues, namely, New York and London.
