With the pre-order for the Samsung Galaxy S8 already underway, one of its highly-anticipated accessories also became available via the same route.
Online shopping website Amazon opened a pre-order page for the Samsung DeX Station, listing the smartphone dock with a $149.99 price tag. Likewise, Samsung's official website also listed the item for pre-order and noted that the product will begin shipping in the early part of May. Amazon, on the other hand, mentioned that the item will be released come April 20, in time for the arrival of the Galaxy S8 and S8+ smartphones.
The DeX Station's pre-order page listed some of its key features and reasons as to why Galaxy S8 users ought to consider getting them. Samsung describes the product as a tool that will enable the smartphone users to turn their devices into a "true desktop PC experience."
"By docking the Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8+ into the DeX Station, your phone will launch a special DeX mode on the connected external monitor and applications can be opened in multiple separate windows," said Samsung's official description.
Users can also connect their keyboard, mouse, and Ethernet cable, depending on their needs and requirements. Moreover, the smartphone dock can also serve as a virtual desktop application that allows users to access and control their desktop computers via their Galaxy S8 and S8+ devices.
In addition, the DeX also sports a number of connectivity ports, including USB 2.0 (2), USB Type-C (1), Power-in, and Ethernet. It also comes with the adaptive fast charging (AFC) technology, as well as its own cooling fan.
Last March 29, the Korean-based tech giant unveiled the two models for their flagship smartphones, bannered by topnotch features like the AMOLED Infinity Display, bezel-less screen, and the Bixby virtual assistant. The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ are also available for pre-order, and shipping will begin on April 20.
