The release date of the highly-anticipated video game "Star Wars Battlefront II" was finally revealed.
Hosting a panel during the "Star Wars" Celebration over the weekend in Orlando, Florida, representatives from EA, DICE, Motive Studios, and Lucasfilm confirmed that the first and third-person video game will be released on Nov. 17.
The team also coupled the revelation with a full trailer of the video game, giving spectators a brief teaser, showing key characters like Darth Maul, Luke Skywalker, Kylo Ren, Rey, Yoda, and Imperial commander Iden Versio, who was narrating in the video. It can be recalled that a shorter version of the trailer was leaked last week.
The game features a canon single-player campaign that takes place after the events of "Return of the Jedi," which revolves around Versio's quest to subdue the Rebellion and avenge the Emperor.
"We wanted to create a campaign that told a story we haven't seen before in Star Wars," said Mark Thompson, Motive game director. "It was important for us to tell a new authentic story, one that gives players a brand-new perspective. By putting players in the boots of an elite member of the Imperial forces, we can show them what the battle was like from the other side," he added in his statement.
Moreover, the game's multiplayer, which is still developed by DICE like its predecessor, will cover all the three eras of the "Star Wars" films, and it will be capable of supporting up to 40 players, according to a report from IGN.
Apart from the characters, players can also expect to see action in different maps like "Mos Eisley," "Yavin 4," and "Starkiller Base," among others. In addition, an Elite Trooper Deluxe Edition of the game will also be available, showcasing upgrades to all of the trooper classes, as well as early access to the game, days before its official launch.
"Star Wars Battlefront II" will roll out worldwide on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC, and it is now available for preorder on Amazon.
