A lot of fans know by now that The Saviors, the group of survivors led by the notorious Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), are in fact the most dangerous villains that Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and his group have faced to date. However, it seems like the tension is not going to tone down even for a little bit as AMC has recently sent out a teaser image for "The Walking Dead" season 7 that seemingly hints at the coming of yet another group of savages.
The latest teaser that AMC has released on its official Instagram page for "The Walking Dead" season 7 shows a picture of a severed head on a steak. As for some fans who have been following the comic books, this is certainly an indication that The Whisperers are coming.
According to Cinemablend, the depiction on the image is clearly a nod to one of the events in the comics edition where The Whisperers kidnapped some of the Alexandrian survivors and murdered them. After the gruesome event, the group then continued to place the severed heads of the victims on a steak as some sort of warning, telling people that they have entered the savages' territory.
The coming of The Whisperers has already been hinted at before by the comic book series creator, Robert Kirkman, during his panel at the recently concluded event, New York Comic-Con, as said on previous reports.
"Probably, eventually...As long as we don't get cancelled it should," he said about the possible introduction of The Whisperers in the television series. "I can't wait to see Andrew Lincoln saying 'Now we gotta worry about the Whispererererers...' I think about some dark stuff," he continued.
Fans should note that AMC has yet to confirm the existence of The Whisperers in "The Walking Dead" season 7. So with that said, it's best for the fans to keep an open mind for the time being, considering that Rick still has to save the whole group from Negan's wrath in the upcoming season.
"The Walking Dead" season 7 is scheduled to air on Sunday, Oct. 23, at 9 p.m. EDT on AMC.
