It seems fans will have to wait for much longer before seeing Tim Tebow play football in another league.

According to BleacherReport, former NFL superstar quarterback Tim Tebow was open but remained non-committal on the prospects of playing for the XFL in 2020. During an "Off the Board" podcast with Jimmy Triana of Sports Illustrated, the 30-year-old athlete expressed his gratitude for the invitation he received from XFL founder and WWE Chairman Vince McMahon.

"That's very nice of him, but 2020 is a long way from now," said Tebow. "I'm focused on today, I'm focused on spring training and a lot of things before that. I'm not even close to thinking about that right now," added the current New York Mets minor league outfielder. Back in January, McMahon told Sports Illustrated that Tebow is very much welcome to join his league. "If Tim Tebow wants to play, he could very well play," McMahon said.

Tebow's personality seemed to jive with what McMahon is looking for, which are people who have high character, according to some observers. "We are evaluating a player based on many things, including the quality of human being they are. If you have any sort of criminal record or commit a crime you aren't playing in this league," said McMahon in an interview with ESPN last month.

Meanwhile, Tebow was not shy to share that he had some favorite wrestling superstars from the WWE. The football star shared during the podcast that some of his favorites are The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, and Brock Lesnar. Furthermore, he also shared that he was a late bloomer, as far as following the WWE goes.

"I didn't watch it that much when I was young, but as I got older, I became friends with some of the guys and watched them," said Tebow. He also noted that some of the things the WWE superstars do inside the ring are "actually really hard," while some are "pretty talented and also good actors," which are some of the things he respects about them.

With two years left before the return of the XFL, it will be interesting to see how things will pan out for Tebow, as he also noted that he has "no idea" what he will be doing two years from now.
