Despite the ardent wishes of fans to once again see their favorite character Bea Smith, played by Danielle Cormack, return for the upcoming fifth season of "Wentworth," it looks like all of the hopes are going down the drain.
According to Chatt Sports Net, "Wentworth" season 5 will move past Bea's death as it has already been established that the top dog inmate has been killed by Joan Ferguson (Pamela Rabe), making the former some kind of a tragic hero.
In fact, executive producer Jo Porter clarified ongoing rumors that perhaps the new installment will see the character miraculously propped up in a hospital bed, prompting the notion that she survived the 12 fatal stabbings. There are even speculations being rounded up, saying that Bea could only have fallen into a coma and that it's only Will (Robbie Magasiva) and Vera (Kate Atkinson) who have known the real situation. Theories are also indicating the possibility that the tough woman will appear at the season 5 finale, as pointed out over at Movie News Guide.
News AU reported that producers of the show have taken a huge risk in killing Bea, who has been the center of the show since its inception, consequently closing her story in the critically acclaimed jail bird drama.
Porter said in a statement that it was a "difficult decision" for them to bid goodbye to the "much-loved and revered character."
"This decision was particularly hard as it meant also saying goodbye to Danielle Cormack," she went on to say.
The showrunner even emphasized the part Cormack has played in making "Wentworth" what it is today.
With that already settled, fans are now hankering for details about the release date of "Wentworth" season 5. FX News Call wrote that SoHo still has to make an announcement but, the dates will most likely fall in April of next year.
Watch out for more updates.
