With no official announcement on its release date, the fifth season of the hit Australian TV series "Wentworth" will have its fans waiting a little bit longer, although spoilers and speculations have been circulating online to keep them company.
According to a report by Enstarz.com, the lead character, Bea Smith (Danielle Cormack), is speculated to make a comeback and get her revenge, but it would take a major turn of events in the series' plot, considering that Smith was practically left for dead at the end of season 4. With nothing concrete to hold on to, there are also some who believe the inmate will no longer return in the upcoming season alive, apart from being shown in a series of flashbacks.
Furthermore, Cormack herself mentioned that the shocking demise of her character will no longer be reversed. In relation to the prospects of Cormack no longer coming back, news that a new actor will debut in season 5 to replace her. A report by Korea Portal suggested the possibility that Liam Hemsworth may take Cormack's place as the prison warden. However, nothing official has been announced in relation to his addition or if his appearance will be a recurring one or not.
On the flipside, an Instagram post from Cormack last Novemeber. showing the actress with some of the series' cast members, fanned the speculations that she will indeed be returning.
Created by Lara Radulovich and David Hannam, Wentworth first debuted in May 2013, and the show received praises from critics, as well as numerous awards and recognitions. Some of the accolades bagged by the series include "Most Outstanding Drama" and "Most Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor" at the ASTRA Awards. It also earned various nominations and victories by some of its actors and actresses, like Cormack, Nicole da Silva, Pamela Rabe, and Celia Ireland.
