Living up to their promise of another playable character reveal, NetherRealm Studios unveiled the latest hero to join the growing roster of "Injustice 2."

In a YouTube video shared by WWE wrestler Xavier Woods, who came to the NetherRealm office to try out the game, superhero Firestorm was confirmed to be the latest addition to the upcoming fighting video game. The video also showcased actual gameplay footage of the character who didn't come much of a surprise for gaming analysts and enthusiasts, as NetherRealm boss Ed Boon already teased the superhero last December.

The video gave fans a glimpse of the character's abilities, led by a super fast fireball projectile and a torpedo attack. He can also turn his red flame into a blue one whenever he goes Nuclear, which apparently deals and greater damage.

Meanwhile, a report from Gamezone listed the names of Firestorm's attacks, namely, the Fusion Blast, the Energy Shield, and the Molten Trap.

Last week, NetherRealm released the second part of the story trailer titled "Shattered Alliances," which featured the Green Lantern and the Green Arrow, as well as a quick glimpse of Bane and Professor Zoom. Moreover, the video also showed Dr. Fate and a peek at Captain Cold.

In addition, a report from Polygon earlier this month confirmed that the game will feature thousands of unlockable items, which was something the video game developer didn't employ on the game's predecessor. Fans can expect kits in three different forms — namely, equipment, shaders, and abilities — which drop at the end of a fight and can be purchased using in-game money.

Furthermore, the report also confirmed that the playable characters will also come various equipment items, which they can use for their head, torso, arms, and legs. The equipment is also customizable, allowing players to come up with different looks for their characters.

"Injustice 2" is slated to be released on May 16 on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
