Ever since "Longmire" was canceled by A&E and was subsequently saved by Netflix, fans have been worried about the series being canceled again. Netflix's recent renewal announcement has been bittersweet for the fans.

Early in November, an article from The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that although Netflix did order a sixth season for "Longmire," it will also be the last of the series.

Even after the cancellation announcement from Netflix, fans have been very thankful that at least the series would have a whole season to finish their story.

In a statement released by "Longmire" executive producers Hunt Baldwin, John Coveny, and Greer Shephard, they were very thankful to the giant streaming network. The producers also promised a great ending to the fans, saying: "We are grateful to Netflix for the opportunity to compose a closing chapter for these beloved characters that inspires lasting memories. Most importantly, we're committed to delivering a dynamic and satisfying conclusion to our fans that rewards their longtime loyalty."

"We are proud to be the home of the Longmire series, as so many viewers over the last few seasons have watched and been captivated by Walt's (Robert Taylor) journey," Netflix VP, Original Content, Cindy Holland stated. "There has been no better team to work with on this show than Greer, Hunt and John, and their tremendous cast and crew, and we have every confidence that they will have a satisfying conclusion to this revered series," she continued.

With the announcement that the sixth season of "Longmire" will conclude the series, there have been a lot of speculations with regards to Vic Moretti (Katee Sackhoff) and Walt's relationship. Those who have read the "Walt Longmire Mysteries" book series by Craig Johnson know that Walt and Vic would end up together.

In the "Longmire" TV series, however, it is still not clear if something romantic is brewing between the two. There have been speculations that Walt's decision to break up with Donna Monaghan (Ally Walker) in the previous season was a hint that Vic would eventually end up with Walt. Breathecast has speculated that although the end goal would have Vic and Walt together, it will not be a walk in the park for the two.

There is still no exact release date that is confirmed for "Longmire" season 6, but it will be released in 2017.
