Easter celebration and kids go hand-in-hand, and what better way to celebrate the holiday than by catching Pokémon eggs.

Niantic officially announced through a post that an Easter event titled "Eggstravaganza" kicked off on April 13 at 1:00 p.m. PDT, and it will last until next Thursday, April 20th, at 1:00 p.m. PDT. The event is basically an egg hunt, where players are encouraged to go out for the duration of the week to catch Pokémon eggs. Players will notice that there will be an increase in the number Pokémon types found in 2km eggs, while they can win more Candy for every Pokémon egg that they successfully hatch.

"Throughout this Eggstravaganza, you'll also level up even faster with double XP! Combine this Egg-cellent bonus with a Lucky Egg, and you'll earn four times the XP you normally would," said Niantic in the announcement. "To make this Eggstravaganza even sweeter, Lucky Eggs will be 50% off in the in-game shop," they added.

In addition, Niantic also encouraged the players to share their egg-hunting stories and experiences by using #PokemonGO in their social media accounts.

Meanwhile, entertainment and gaming website Heavy speculated that during the event, players will also be able to obtain rare creatures, as those coming from the 5km and 10km eggs will likely be added to the 2km selection. Furthermore, they also reported that Lucky Eggs will go on sale during the event's duration, and they will now be sold at half the price.

Last week, Niantic announced that the game had reached a new milestone by having 65 million active users since it was released last year. "We continue to be inspired by the passion of the 65+ million people from around the world playing Pokémon GO each month," said Niantic in the post.

"We're still at the beginning of the journey and there's a lot more to come," they added. They also confirmed that more "cooperative social gameplay experiences" will be enjoyed by players soon.
