A lot of rumors have recently popped up regarding the potential exit of Chandler Riggs — who plays Carl Grimes — from the hit AMC post-apocalyptic zombie drama "The Walking Dead." The recent fan speculations were caused by a recent post from actor's social media account.

The speculations were first ignited when Riggs posted on his Twitter account earlier this month that he was accepted into Auburn University in Alabama. This certainly got avid fans of the show talking, as it  could mean that Carl might get killed in the upcoming episodes of "The Walking Dead" season 7 to explain his departure from the hit show.

The clamor, unfortunately, did not end there. Chandler's father — William — published a social media post soon after the actor's tweet about being accepted to Auburn. William's post indicated that the young actor's seven year contract with "The Walking Dead" has now ended, Hollywood Life reported.

Luckily, his mother — Gina-Ann Riggs — has recently gone public to address the speculations and rumors about the young actor's possible exit from "The Walking Dead" season 7, The Wrap reported.

"Don't over analyze. His seven year contract is up. That's all he was saying, nothing else. Pretty big accomplishment for a child actor (and for the parent who had to quit his job for this child to be able to follow his dream)," she wrote.

However, this doesn't mean that Chandler Riggs will not leave "The Walking Dead" in the future, or at least eventually, based on the report from Screenrant. But it is also far from being a debunking of the speculations about his grim future in the show.

So with that being said, fans of the series are advised to not jump into conclusions just yet and patiently wait for how things will turn out in "The Walking Dead" season 7, most especially now that it is nearing its first-half season finale.
