Xiaomi continues to establish its presence in the Indian tech market with a series of smartphone and smart TV releases over the past few weeks, and the Chinese tech company is showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
According to a report from The Indian Express, the company announced the new Lake Blue color variant for the Redmi 5A smartphone. The device sporting the new color becomes available in India this month, and will join the other previously released variants, namely, the Grey and Rose Gold.
Prospective buyers who are looking to secure the new device may do so during the Redmi 5A's next sale on March 22 at noontime, a GSM Arena report noted. The 2 GB RAM/16 GB internal storage variant will have a price tag worth INR 5,999 while the 3 GB/32 GB model retails for INR 6,999. On top of the new color variant, Xiaomi also announced that it has reached the five million mark in terms of total number of Redmi 5A units sold in India.
The company achieved the milestone four months since the smartphone was first released back in November last year. As for the Redmi 5A's specs, the device sports a 5-inch HD display with 1280 x 720 resolution. It is also crafted with a metal unibody design and is powered by a Quad-core 1.4GHz Snapdragon 425 chipset with an Adreno 308 GPU to take care of the graphics.
Furthermore, the device also comes with a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with f/2.2 aperture and LED flash. Moreover, the camera also packs a punch with its Panorama mode, Burst mode, real-time filters, HDR support, and face recognition features. As for the front camera, it is a 5-megapixel variant with f/2.0 aperture, face recognition, and selfie countdown features.
The device also runs on the native MIUI 9 from Xiaomi and supports two SIM cards with a microSD card slot for users who prefer to expand their smartphone's memory.
