Xiaomi continues to ride the momentum coming from a series of product launchings in India, as another device is slated for release in the South Asian country, with a little touch of exclusivity.
According to a Business Today report, the Chinese tech company is set to launch the new Redmi 5 smartphone on this week. Interestingly, the device will be sold exclusively on the Amazon India website, apart from the official Xiaomi channels. According to the dedicated page, the Redmi 5 is scheduled to drop on March 14.
Furthermore, the device was also hinted by Xiaomi's Global VP and Managing Director of Xiaomi India, Manu Kumar Jain, via Twitter last week. "#CompactPowerhouse is launching on 14th March! Slim, sleek and compact! Yet a true super power house! Guess what this is? RT if you are excited," wrote Jain. Interestingly, the Xiaomi boss did not name the device, but all signs pointed to the Redmi 5.
When it comes to the specs, a report from News18.com noted that the device will likely sport a 5.7-inch HD+ display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. It will also use a Snapdragon 450 chipset and may come in two variants. The first offering 2 GB of RAM with 16 GB internal storage while the second with a bigger 3 GB RAM and 32 GB storage capacity.
As for the price tag, Xiaomi has yet to reveal the Redmi 5's value, though it is speculated to go somewhere between the Rs 7,000 to Rs 8,000 range. Some interesting takeaways teased by the Amazon India listing is that the smartphone will come with a bigger display while fitting much better in the hands of the users. In addition, it is also designed to take better selfies in the dark.
Earlier this month, Xiaomi launched the new 40-inch Mi TV 4A smart TV in India. The product is part of the company's Mi TV 4A series that feature with voice-control supporting remote, Gadgets360 reported. The smart TV sports a 64-bit 1.5GHz Amlogic L962-H8X processor and a 750MHz Mali 450 GPU with 1 GB RAM plus 8 GB of internal storage, among other specifications.
